Need a fun and new snack and salad topping that just so happens to be low in calories and contains zero oil or sugar? Well, you’ve come to the right place. These crispy little green peas are bursting with flavor from sea salt and wasabi powder. Best of all, they are a breeze to make and can last on your counter for a week!
It all starts with 3 simple ingredients:
1 bag of frozen peas
2 teaspoons of sea salt
2 teaspoons of wasabi powder
First, place the peas in a mixing bowl and sprinkle to peas with sea salt and wasabi powder:
Next, mix to incorporate:
Then, simply arrange the peas on a parchment lined baking sheet. Try to spread the peas out as much as possible to ensure the peas get crispy and cook evenly:
After baking, let cool completely to room temperature. If they don’t appear super crispy when you take them out of the oven, don’t worry they will crispy up a great deal as they cool.
Look how cute these little guys are:
Enjoy these easy crispy wasabi peas as a snack anytime of day. You can throw a handful in a ziplock baggie when you are out running errands to control cravings, or (and this is my favorite way), sprinkle on top of salads for a healthy alternative to croutons. It adds a wonderful flavor component and they are crispy enough to where I don’t need any croutons for the crunch factor that is important for a yummy salad.
Funny story, my dog Opie LOVES these little peas! I actually have to hide them on a high shelf or else he will find his way to grab a few, haha. Since peas are good for dogs, I don’t mind it so much. I even make him a little batch without the wasabi powder just for him. They make great treats for training purposes. Maybe your dog will like them too. 🙂
